Pink Roses

Grace. Gentility. Admiration. Sympathy. Joy. In the modern language of flower coloration, that's what pink roses symbolize. Try a bouquet of pink roses, and you'll understand why. These delicate beauties are as gentle as their meaning, making them ideal for children's and bridal bouquets alike. Pink roses are especially nice for celebrating the birth or christening of a little girl. On an adult level, when mixed with their red brethren they indicate both passion and romance. When they're dark pink, pink roses symbolize thankfulness. Keep that in mind when you receive those flowers, ladies!

Early pink roses

It seems obvious to the modern observer than pink roses must represent a hybrid of the classic white and red varieties, but in fact almost all European roses before 1800 were either white or pink. It seems that the roses were hybridized before they ever arrived in the West; the reds didn't make it until much later. Nevertheless, pink roses were wildly popular, and the darker variety, which was called "red" though it really wasn't, was taken as the badge of the Lancaster clan during England's War of the Roses, 1455-1485.

But where did pink roses and their ancestors originate in the first place? Roses belong to a very widespread family, related as they are to apples, plums, blackberries, and other fruits. It's said that Columbus knew that he was near land in October 1492 when a sailor fished a rose twig from the sea. The pink roses that we cherish today started out in the Far East, particularly Japan, India, and China, though they probably ultimately originated in North America: the fossil of a rose that grew 35 million years ago has been found in Colorado. Was it a pink rose? Until we build a time machine, there's no way to be sure!

In the pink

You know, there's just something special about pink roses. Pink roses, as you might be aware, come in a variety of shades, and there are many fine multicolored roses that include pink in their makeup. While it might stretching things a bit to include them, many rose pundits place the coral and salmon shades among the pink roses. Fortunately for all you pink rose fans (and hey, who isn't) you'll find all the major shades of pink here at Dr. Roses. Baby pink, salmon, coral -- it's all here, at prices you can't beat with a stick.

A little uncertain about which pink roses are best for you? Try a mixture. At these prices, you can afford a little experimentation. While we have plenty of premium long-stem roses available, keep in mind, too, that Mr. Roses is known for its Royal super long-stemmed roses with 32-inch stems. We doubt you'll find anything of the kind in North America, since we harvest our roses from our farm in Ecuador, which has the perfect climate for growing these special roses. Pink, purple, white, red, green, orange, and even blue, Mr. Roses has exactly the color of rose you're looking for.
